Authorities have identified a 53-year-old man who died in a motorcycle crash near Derby.

Deputies were called at around 11: 30 a.m. Monday to the scene near 79th Street South and Hillside. Lt. Lin Dehning with the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office said a person on a bicycle saw a maroon Harley Davidson in the ditch.

"He looked in the ditch and found a motorcycle laying [sic] on top of the individual that we can assume is the rider," Lt. Dehning said. "He called 911."

Paramedics arrived an pronounced the man dead. He was identified as Gregory S. Castoreno, of Belle Plaine.

"There nothing to indicate at this time that the motorcycle had a collision with another vehicle. The motorcycle was northbound on Hillside and obviously failed to negotiate a curve."
