Woman hurt in accidental shooting in Arkansas City

ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. (KAKE) -

Police in Arkansas City are investigating after a woman was hurt in an accidental shooting Monday night. 

Officers were called just before 10:30 p.m. Monday to the report of an accidental shooting at a home in the 100 block of West Cedar Avenue. They arrived to find a wounded 25-year-old woman sitting on the floor. She'd suffered a gunshot wound to the upper left leg.

The police department said in a news release that another person in the home was "attempting to a clear a .22-caliber rifle when it accidentally discharged, striking the female victim."

The woman was flown to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita for treatment. Her condition was not provided. 

Police have made no arrests.
