Wichita Transit offering discounted rates for students

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

The City of Wichita Transit is offering discounted bus passes and a new pilot program for students of USD 259. 

Starting August 21, students from seven schools will be able to ride Wichita Transit buses at a reduced fare to get to and from school.

The seven schools include: Coleman Middle, Curtis Middle, Hamilton Middle, Robinson Middle, East High, North High, and West High

Wichita Transit buses will pick up students at designated Wichita Transit bus stops to drop off and pick up students at the seven participating schools.

"We hope the program proves to be useful for students and their families to help increase safety for our children," said Wichita Mayor Jeff Longwell.

In addition, USD 259 students will be eligible for a reduced passes, including a $20 Monthly Pass, which is regularly $55 per month, or a $75 Semester Pass (valid from September 1 to December 31).
