WASHINGTON (KAKE) -

President Trump is nominating an assistant prosecutor to be a federal judge in Kansas.

Sen. Pat Roberts's office revealed Thursday Holly Lou Teeter is being nominated. The White House confirmed that in a Friday morning statement. Teeter currently works in Kansas City, Missouri. Teeter's background includes work at the Shook, Hardy & Bacon law firm's Kansas City office.

A statement from Roberts said Teeter was "first in her class at the University of Kansas' School of Law." KAKE News verified she graduated from there in 2004. Roberts added Teeter "is educated as a chemical engineer and has utilized her scientific expertise to help establish rules governing patent law cases."

Teeter is one of ten federal judges and four federal prosecutors nominated by Trump Thursday. All must be confirmed by the Senate.
