WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

A severe storm that plowed through Wichita Wednesday afternoon brought some much needed rainfall, but it also left about 1,500 Westar Energy customers without power and contributed to a rollover crash.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning was issued for Sedgwick County just after 4 p.m. Westar reports power was knocked out for 1,507 customers roughly in between Central and Douglas and from West Street to I-235. At 6 p.m., about 550 of the utility's customers remained without power.

Two people were hospitalized as a precaution after speed and the weather contributed to a rollover crash on I-235 near Central at around 4:30 p.m. The Kansas Highway Patrol says the car was heading north when the driver lost control, went into the median and hit a guardrail.

On the city's east side, dispatchers say tree limbs were down near Douglas and Edgemoor. Winds were estimated to be around 60 mph.
