TOPEKA, Kan. (KAKE) -

A school finance law approved by Kansas lawmakers will go into effect while the state supreme court determines if it does enough to fund schools sufficiently.  The Kansas Supreme Court released its calendar for arguments on school finance today.

First briefs are due on Friday June 30th,   with oral arguments in front of the Supreme Court scheduled for July 18th.  Kansas lawmakers approved Senate Bill 19,  which will give Kansas schools an additional $195 million in funding this year.   The Supreme Court will allow Senate Bill 19 to go into effect July 1st,  until justices determine if it does enough to adequately fund public schools.
