A motel employee recognized Harris and called police. Arriving officers determined their vehicle matched the one for which authorities had been searching.

Harris was booked on a Riley County District Court warrant for first-degree murder and attempted first-degree murder. His bond was set at $2 million.

Brown was booked on a Riley County warrant for possession of methamphetamine. Her bond was set at $20,000.

Harris and Brown remain jailed in Wichita but will be transferred back to Riley County.

"We would like to thank Wichita Police Department for their assistance, as well as the various local and nonlocal agencies who assisted in the search and arrest of Steven Harris, as well as the many thousands of citizens who remained vigilant throughout the investigation," the Riley County Police Department said on Facebook

There's no indication that Brown was in danger.

Police were tight-lipped about the situation, but both employees and guests of the hotel mentioned the link to a murder in Manhattan earlier this week.

A hotel employee said those outside their rooms were being asked to stay away until the situation was resolved. Those inside their rooms were asked to shelter in place.

Riley County police Tuesday announced a warrant for Steven Harris on one count of murder and another count of attempted murder. Harris is being sought for the Sunday shooting that left 39-year-old German Gonzalez-Garcia of Manhattan dead.

RCPD said Wednesday they were also looking for a missing woman now associated with Harris. They have filed a missing person report on 37-year-old Cora Brown of Manhattan.
