WaKeeney police chief arrested again
WaKeeney Police Chief Terry Eberle, who was arrested Wednesday and released on bond, was arrested for a second time the next day.
The Trego County Attorney said in a news release Eberle has been sent back to the county jail after being picked up for an alleged violation of bond. A bond violation hearing is set for Monday, May 8 at the Ellis County Courthouse.
The KBI said in a news release Wednesday that Eberle was originally jailed on suspicion of blackmail, harassment by telecommunications device, attempted interference with law enforcement, intimidation of a witness or victim, tampering with a public record, and two counts of theft.
On January 12, Trego County Attorney Christopher Lyon requested that the KBI investigate several allegations of unlawful conduct made against Eberle, the release said.
Eberle was arrested without incident and made his first appearance Wednesday afternoon and was release on an own recognizance bond. The investigation is ongoing.
WaKeeney's city administrator said Eberle has been placed on leave.
