WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Wichita Public Schools officials say there was no danger when a student brought an unloaded gun to Northwest High School on Thursday.

District representative Susan Arensman said a fellow student noticed another student with the gun and reported it to school staff. The student resource officer as well as additional police responded. The offending student was removed from school and taken into custody.

Arensman said Northwest principal Gilbert Alvarez sent an email to parents notifying them of the situation.
