Joseph Randle found guilty on four counts

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Former Dallas Cowboys running back Joseph Randle was found guilty of four counts in connection with an incident at a house party in south Wichita.

Jurors found Randle guilty on one count of aggravated battery, aggravated burglary, criminal threat and possession of marijuana. He was found not guilty on one count of aggravated burglary. 

Jurors told Judge Kevin O'Connor they couldn't reach a verdict on two charges of aggravated battery and a count of criminal damage to property.

Randle was accused of kicking in the door at a home in south Wichita in 2016. He was also arrested for striking three people with his car.  

Randle faces thirty months in prison on the aggravated burglary charge.

There will be no decision until at least Friday regarding the fate of a former NFL running back now mired in a jury trial in Sedgwick County District Court. 

After hours of deliberation, the jury was sent home at about 5 p.m. 

The prosecution and defense on Thursday morning gave their closing arguments in Joseph Randle's trial.

Randle is accused of aggravated battery. Witnesses say Randle hit them with his car after leaving a south Wichita party in 2016.


Former Dallas Cowboys running back Joseph Randle told a courtroom today he was trying to flee the scene the night he was accused of hitting three people with his car. Randle testified in Sedgwick County District Court where he is standing trial for aggravated battery.

Randle testified about what happened when he showed up at a housewarming party in south Wichita in 2016. Randle said he went to the party for a girl. He called the situation hostile and testified if he had a gun he would have pulled it out in self defense. Other witnesses described Randle as becoming aggressive following a game of beer pong.

Randle testified against the advice of his attorney Steve Mank.  

The trial continues with closing arguments Thursday morning.
