Garden City increases age for tobacco sales to 21

Garden City teenagers have spoken,  and city leaders are listening.

The Garden City Commission voted to increase the legal age of tobacco possession and sale from 18 to 21.

A group of Garden City High School students presented the "Tobacco 21" program to city commissioners in February.  

People under 21 caught trying to buy tobacco products could pay a fine. 

Garden City leaders say 15 Kansas communities have adopted the "Tobacco 21" program.
