Car-train collision in Hutchinson injures 2

HUTCHINSON, Kan. (KAKE) -

Two people escaped with minor injuries Monday night when their car collided with a train at an east Hutchinson railroad crossing.

A police spokesperson told KAKE News an 81-year-old man was driving north on Lorraine around 10:00 p.m. when he went through the crossing gates near Avenue A. The collision with a train left the street blocked for more than an hour.

The unnamed driver and his 51-year-old passenger were to a hospital with chest pains. Authorities consider the injuries minor.
