Ian Grillot returns to Olathe bar week after shooting

OLATHE, Kan. (KMBC) -

Ian Grillot returned to Austin's Bar & Grill in Olathe, Kansas, a week after the shooting.

Grillot was shot Feb. 22, after he confronted the suspected shooter, Adam Purinton, 51. Purinton is charged with murder and attempted murder in the attack.

Witnesses told investigators that Purinton yelled at Srinivas Kuchibhotla, 32, and Alok Madasani, 32, telling the men to "get out of my country" before opening fire.

Kuchibhotla died of his injuries.

Witness: Olathe bar shooter asked victim for visa

Witnesses told police that Grillot tried to intervene.

One person, who was at the bar for Grillot’s visit Wednesday, told KMBC's Haley Harrison that Grillot came in a little after 8 p.m., and people began cheering for him, shaking his hand and patting him on the back.

Grillot was also spotted at an Ash Wednesday service at a nearby church.
