Wichita police have arrested a 24-year-old man for a double shooting that left one man dead and another in the hospital.

The shooting happened just before 4 p.m. Monday at the intersection of Market and 18th Street in north Wichita. Police said cousins Bernardino and Andrew Ornelas were sitting in a vehicle at a stop sign when another vehicle approached and someone inside started shooting.

Bernardino Ornelas, 24, died from multiple gunshot wounds. Andrew, 25, suffered a serious gunshot wound. He is undergoing treatment at a Wichita hospital.

Sgt. Nikki Woodrow on Thursday said that a suspect was arrested. Booking records identified him as Joseph Moncada-Urbina.

Moncada-Urbina is being held in the Sedgwick County Jail for first-degree intentional murder, aggravated battery, criminal discharge of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance. Bond has not been set.

Police described the shooting as a "targeted incident," and investigators are working to determine if there are any other suspects.

Ornelas' death is the first homicide of 2017.
