HALSTEAD, Kan. (KAKE) -

A tractor-trailer fire lit up the night near Halstead Wednesday, and forced a main road to close. Dispatchers said late Wednesday it could remain closed overnight.

The Harvey County Sheriff's Office told KAKE News the vehicle caught fire around 6:10 p.m. on Southwest 36th Street at the west edge of Halstead. The street was closed between Old Settlers Road and South Halstead Road while crews handled the problem.

Pictures submitted by KAKE viewer Tyler Hoover indicated the tractor did not leave the roadway. The cause of the fire was not immediately clear. No injuries were reported.
