WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Wichita police have identified the woman allegedly stabbed to death by her husband this week. 

Sgt. Robert Reichenberger said the man called 911 around 9:10 p.m., saying he had just killed his wife and that he'd be on the front porch waiting for police.

When officers arrived in the 1100 block of South Martinson, near Seneca and McCormick, they found the woman dead in one of the bedrooms. She had been stabbed multiple times. 

Police on Wednesday identified the victim as 64-year-old Marilyn Dye. 

The suspect's name was not released.

A Wichita man is in custody after allegedly admitting to stabbing his wife to death Sunday evening. 

Sgt. Robert Reichenberger said the man called 911 around 9:10 p.m., saying he had just killed his wife and that he'd be on the front porch waiting for police.

When officers arrived in the 1100 block of South Martinson, near Seneca and McCormick, they found the 64-year-old woman dead in one of the bedrooms. She had been stabbed multiple times. 

Police took the victim's 63-year-old husband into custody, and then EMS took him to the hospital after he complained of chest pains. 

Sgt. Reichenberger said Sunday evening that investigators had yet to question the husband. 

Lt. Todd Ojile discussed the homicide on Monday morning. He said investigators had not located any witnesses and do not yet know what led up to the stabbing. He added that the couple had been married about four or five years and there was no history of domestic violence at the home. 

Sunday's stabbing death is Wichita's 14th homicide of 2016 and the third this month involving a domestic situation.
