BEAUMONT, Kan. (KAKE) -

The Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating after a plane flips on its top in Beaumont.

It happened at about 1:30 p.m. at the Beaumont airstrip. Butler county dispatchers say the plane hit a crosswind during take off, causing it to flip over.  No one was hurt but the pilot and passenger were nowhere to be found. Dispatchers said after the crash the pair went to a nearby restaurant, called a friend, and headed left the area.

The KHP tells KAKE News it has made contact with the pilot and passenger and has taken over the investigation.
