Three people taking a float trip down the Arkansas River were rescued after they got into trouble.
Emergency crews responded around 10 a.m. Thursday to the West 4th Avenue Arkansas River bridge. Jeremy Unruh with the Hutchinson Fire Department told the Hutch Post that three teens, a girl and a boy, started the trip at 4th Avenue and had gone about 100 yards downstream when they became entangled in some trees.
Fortunately one of them had a cell phone, and called 911. Two rescuers on a raft rescued without incident.
The fire department remind residents that the Reno County has banned all floating down the river due to the high fast moving water.
Thursday's rescue is the third fir Hutchinson rescuers in the last month.
