WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

Police are investigating after a man's body was found in a swimming pool at an apartment complex in east Wichita.

Emergency crews were called just after 8 a.m. Friday to the report of a drowning at Horizons East Apartments at 505 North Rock Road, near Central. When they arrived on scene, they found a man's body at the bottom of the complex's pool.

"We pulled him out and were able to identify him through fingerprints," said Capt. Kevin Mears.

"From what we can tell...it appears he was in the pool and drowned."

Capt. Mears did not identify the man but said he was not a resident of the apartment complex. He added that the pool was locked when maintenance staff arrived to unlock it. That's when they found the body.

There's no indication how long the man was in the pool. Capt. Mears asks that anyone with information call police.

"We've got our homicide unit on scene," he said. "That is out policy, out standard procedure to look over all the information to try to confirm or deny if there's any foul play involved."
