Teen gets probation in Great Bend school bus assault

ELLSWORTH, Kan. (KAKE) -

A teen was sentenced to probation for his role in an assault on a fellow Great Bend swim team member earlier this year

Conner Furrey, 17, of Great Bend, was convicted May 31 of misdemeanor battery. He was sentenced on Tuesday to unsupervised probation until July 5 of 2017. 

Alan Matthew Bobbitt, convicted previously, was given a probationary sentence through May 2017.

In a separate civil case, the victim's mother, Michele O'Neil, is seeking damages of around $400,000 for claims against 21 defendants, including the parents of Furrey and Bobbitt, USD 428, the Great Bend High School principal, two swim coaches, a bus driver and members of the USD 428 school board.
