WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) -

The Park City Police Department says an event coming to the Wichita area Thursday is expected to bring “extreme traffic congestion.”

The Hot Rod Power Tour, a rolling car show, will pull into the Kansas Pavilions near I-135 and 85th Street North as soon as 11 a.m. The event takes place from noon to 7 p.m.

Several thousand cars have been involved in the seven-day, seven-city tour. Law enforcement suggests residents and commuters take this into account when planning their activities for Thursday.

“We expect extreme traffic congestion at the 61st St exit on I-135, and along I-135 to 85th Street North,” said Park City Police Chief Phil Bostian. “Social media posts along other stops on the tour have shown long lines at gas stations and extremely heavy traffic on major arteries and intersections.”

Parking details:

Spectators must park at the Wichita Greyhound Park parking lot on 77th St., and buses will shuttle them to and from the show at the Kansas Pavilions. Only show participants displaying cars will be allowed to drive into show at the Pavilions and the old Kansas Coliseum.
