This may come across as cruel, but I don't intend it to be. There is no mistake, this is a tragic incident that has affected many. But, maybe that's what people need to see, a body in the street, to realize the brutal consequences of your actions by not wearing your seatbelt or helmet or making other foolish decisions. People read about this and see it on the news all the time but rarely see the harsh, final reality of a dead body. With that being said, the police have to leave everything alone for the most part until photos can be taken to show an "un-tainted" or un-tampered with scene. In this case the driver was probably going to face some type of criminal action for recklessly killing his wife. Things happen quickly at these scenes and the first priority is to take care of the injured, nothing can be done for the dead and as soon as time allows we try to do the respectful thing and cover the deceased. My sympathy goes out to the families.

How can these folks say it is the Police's fault?? The Police was doing their job...running radar in a construction zone. It is the idiot's that drive croch rockets showing off to peoples that problems it is. It is an ongoing problem with people that wanna show off and people that think they are invensible on croch rockets. It is sad that the Idiot died...but I would rather them take their lives being dumb then innocent people or people doing their jobs have their lives taken from them!!

The police didn't kill anybody. The man eluding officers got himself killed and unfortunately killed his wife with his selfish act of wreckless riding. Just be thankful he wasn't in a large vehicle when he lost control and could have possibly killed another innocent family at the stop light. Blame, blame, blame! Blame everybody but the man in control of the motorcycle and his irresponsible actions.

i was in the east bound lane of kellogg as one of the officers was gloving up, so the accident had just occurred. the speeding and running radar aside, the officers obviously knew that the woman had died in the accident because any medical attention being given was to the man lying in the street. my question is this, why leave her lying there face down on the concrete like that? i mean, they don't need to move her, but can't they carry a sheet of material or something in their squad car to cover her up while they wait for EMS to arrive? that is what i find most upsetting.

The police were running radar in the construction zone and the motorcycle driver was speeding and freaked out when he saw them come after him. He was speeding before the police even tried to do their job. I recall a posting about the police arresting prositutes on Braodway last week. It said something to the effect that the police should focus on real issues, like reckless drivers, speeders and tailgaiters. Now they are focusing on traffic issues and as a result something else is their fault. I guess it depends on your priorities what they should be doing. The police officer just pulled out in this instance to go after the speeder. He lost sight of them briefly and when he got to the intersection the crash had already happened. I don't know where people are getting information that the police were chasing him. At what point do you say police don't chase? Anytime they run, if they run for more than a minute or they go over a certain speed? It's a slippery slope, leave it to the police.

Habout you read the story before you get all worked up over the police supposedly chasing the motorcycle? The female was a passenger on the bike, not an "innocent third party". I saw the police shortly before the accident happened. They were on eastbound US-54 just before the exit to the Turnpike. It sounds like the motorcyclist saw the police and sped up right away. Why is it the police officer's fault that some idiot drove outside of his abilities and crashed? It sounds like your point of view is this: if the police chase somebody and the person ends up crashing, no matter how they were driving, then the officer was being reckless and the death is on him. You're probably the same people that are quick to call 911 when somebody cuts you off in traffic and then grumble about the police not doing anything to stop aggressive drivers. You can't have it both ways. The fact of the matter is that there are those who endanger the public safety, and the police have to stop them.

My blood starts boiling when I read about this accident, it makes me angry at the Wichita Police. They should react differently if someone wants to flee from them when they are pulled over. The police should know that when someone runs off that person is acting irrationally and that’s when INNOCENT third parties have to die. I don’t condone the motorcycle driver's decision to speed up, but the police should use more wisdom and not endanger innocent people (this woman who is dead now) to the point of causing them death. This woman has a family, children, ecc… and was going about her business in a legal way. There have to be other solutions to catching someone who is not stopping when told on the road in the middle of traffic. There are cameras with whom to take pictures of the tag and these persons can be caught later.. This news upsets me very much !!! Please train the police to be wiser than the person who goes against the traffic rules, Liana Wagle

the police should have called off the chase with something they cant catch, not try and pull them over and end up killing someone.
