Meteorologist Frank Waugh joined the KAKE First Alert Weather team in September of 2013.
Frank holds the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist seal by the American Meteorological Society. The CBM is the highest level of certification from the AMS, and involves academic requirements, on-air performance, a rigorous examination and continuing education. Frank earned this designation at the age of 23, making him one of the youngest to ever receive the designation. Frank also holds the National Weather Association Seal of Approval.
Frank is no stranger to Kansas weather, growing up in El Dorado. As a child he remembers numerous storms that brought everything from baseball sized hail to crippling ice and wind. After high school, he attended the University of Kansas where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Atmospheric Science.
Frank came to KAKE from South Bend, Indiana where he was the morning meteorologist for WNDU-TV. He also worked as a weekend meteorologist at KSNT in Topeka, Kansas and at KSNW in Wichita.
Frank enjoys the outdoors and loves fly fishing, kayaking and disk golf. Frank and his wife enjoy traveling, eating good food, skiing and spending time with family and friends.
You can watch Frank from 4:30am to 7am, Monday through Friday, on Good Morning Kansas and KAKE News at 11.
