Meteorologist Ben Pringle joined the KAKEland WeatherPlex in March 1994.
Ben is designated as a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist™ by the American Meteorological Society®. Before being superseded by the CBM™, Ben was awarded the Television Seal of Approval from the American Meteorological Society®. Today, he also maintains the Television Seal of Approval from the National Weather Association.
He came to KAKE from Washington, North Carolina where he was the Chief Meteorologist for WITN-TV. Previously he was a weekend and morning meteorologist for KOTV in Tulsa, Oklahoma. His television weather career began in 1981, as a weekend and morning meteorologist for WIBW in Topeka.
A Kansas native, Ben is originally from Arkansas City, Kansas, and received his degree in meteorology from the University of Kansas.
In his free time, Ben is an avid tennis player and also enjoys the study of general science and astronomy. You might catch his band, Midlife Crisis, playing at a club near you. Additionally, he is a Technician Class Amateur “Ham” Radio operator, working with volunteer storm spotters.
Ben and his wife Kim have been married for over 30 years. They live in Wichita and have three children, Nolan, Hatti, and Jess.
