Dave Phillips has been a part of the Wichita sports scene long enough to be able to say he used to be the color analyst on Wichita State football broadcasts.
He spent ten years as a sports talk show host, and play-by-play sportscaster. He also spent ten years with the Wichita Wings soccer team. When the Wings went to that great soccer field in the sky, Dave went to work for the team's former owners at Carlos O' Kelly's Mexican Cafe. His full time job is director of field marketing. But his love for sports keeps him active weekends on KAKE TV.
Dave has won awards from the Kansas Association of Broadcasters in three different decades, which he says is exactly like George Brett's three decades of batting titles. Except that Brett's was a testimony to athletic excellence and dedication. And Dave's just means he's getting old.
Dave is a graduate of the University of Kansas, but is regarded as the most unbiased, impartial sports journalist in the state, so you probably wouldn't have known where he went to school unless we told you.
