Phil joined KAKE News in October 2011, but he certainly isn't new to Wichita or to Kansas.

Before coming to KAKE, Phil was a reporter and anchor at KFDI Radio. He has also been a reporter and anchor at KJCK Radio in Junction City. While at KFDI, he was involved in much of the coverage that earned the station several regional and national Edward R. Murrow awards. In 2011, Phil was awarded First Place Radio Public Affairs Program by the Kansas Association of Broadcasters for a half-hour program looking at the 20th anniversary of the killer tornado that struck Haysville, Wichita, McConnell Air Force Base and Andover on April 26, 1991.

Phil is a native of the Wichita area, having grown up on a farm in Sumner County, south of Wellington. He has degrees in Agricultural Journalism and Agricultural Economics from Kansas State University.

When not in the newsroom, Phil enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading and - especially - keeping up with K-State sports.
