Jared came to KAKE as an assignment editor in May of 2007 after reporting and anchoring newscasts for KFDI Radio for more than 13 years. If you are from Wichita, you are likely familiar with Jared’s storm chasing reports for many years. In October 2009, Jared was promoted to full-time reporter at KAKE.
Jared captured several major tornadoes on video during a 2-day outbreak over Memorial Day Weekend in Western Kansas in 2007 and was reporting live less than ½ mile away as a tornado nearly struck the town of Mulvane in June of 2004.
Jared has won numerous awards from the Kansas Association of Broadcasters and the Associated Press. He was given the AP Story of the Year award twice and took part in submissions that won four national Edward R. Murrow awards for radio.
Jared is a native to Kansas. He was born and raised in Haysville and now lives in Wichita. He is also an avid bowler, averaging 220 or better for the last several years. When he's not bowling, Jared enjoys spending time at home watching movies with his Yorkshire Terrier named Barney.
