As Assistant News Director, Ben oversees the day-to-day operations of the KAKE Newsroom, including running the assignment desk, dispatching news crews and coordinating all daily news coverage. In addition, Ben supervises newsroom internships.
Ben is a native of Oklahoma City and attended the University of Central Oklahoma. He began his career in news at age 19 at KFOR-TV, the NBC affiliate in Oklahoma City, where he worked for more than four years as a Writer and Assignment Editor. While there, he also performed several other newsroom tasks including storm chasing, and was recognized by the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters for coverage of a tornado in Oklahoma City in 2003. Ben started his career at KAKE as News Assignment Manager in 2004, before being promoted to Assistant News Director in 2009.
In his free time, Ben enjoys spending time with family and friends, watching football and catching a good movie. Ben and his wife Karie have two sons and are happy to call Kansas home.
