Kansas Gov. Mark Parkinson says he'll announce plans next week for nearly $260 million in spending cuts and other steps to keep the state budget balanced.
The governor offered few details Tuesday about his plans. He said he's asking agency heads to look for creative ways to shift money around, but he still expects to cut spending.
Kansas officials issued a new revenue forecast earlier this month that predicts a deficit when the current fiscal year ends June 30.
The state has already had four rounds of budget cuts and other adjustments to keep the budget balanced. The last round was imposed by Parkinson in July.
