C.J. Sapong scored twice to lead Sporting Kansas City to a 2-1 victory Saturday that extended Toronto FC's winless streak to eight consecutive games.

Kansas City's win propelled it to a tie atop the Eastern Conference standings with the New York Red Bulls, who play FC Dallas on Sunday.

Darel Russell scored for Toronto in a rain-drenched affair at BMO Field that ended with ejections of Toronto head coach Ryan Nelsen and assistant Fran O'Leary in the final minute. Toronto (4-14-12) hasn't won since Aug. 4 at New England.

Sapong scored for Kansas City (14-9-6) in the 18th minute on a header past Toronto goalkeeper Joe Bendik.

Russell answered in the 38th minute to pull Toronto even, but Sapong added another header in the 53rd to double his season goal total.
