Wamego Defeats McPherson for 4A Girls Title

Kalyee Page scored 22 and Lanie Page added 20 to lead the Wamego girls to a 60-53 victory over McPherson on Saturday to claim the Kansas Class 4A championship.

Wamego (25-1) used a strong second quarter to build a 25-20 halftime lead. The Red Raiders shot 50 percent from the field for the game, including hitting five of seven in the key second quarter.

McPherson (22-4) was led by a 25-point effort from Katelyn Loecker, who was nine of 18 from the field and hit seven free throws. Janae Barnes had 15 points and 11 rebounds for McPherson.
