Trinity Catholic Celtics (4-3, 10-5) Undefeated in districts the last two seasons and in 2005, Trinity missed the playoffs in 2006 and 2007, losing five of six district games. In the years since 2005 that the Celtics have made the playoffs, they've won at least one game.
Rose Hill Rockets (5-4, 11-4) Rose Hill's success in the playoffs has been spotty since making the state game in 2004, making their deepest run last season to sectionals. Rose Hill lost four of six district games from 2007 to 2008 but returned to their previous dominant form last season by going 3-0.
Andover Central Jaguars (3-5, 12-3) The Jaguars had their closest look at a deep playoff run in 2008, when they lost to eventual state champ Topeka Hayden at regionals, 21-20. Last season, they had their first losing season but still made the playoffs. Andover Central has never missed the playoffs in eight seasons of program history.
Wellington Crusaders (3-5, 12-3) Wellington has made the playoffs for 18 consecutive seasons but has made little noise of late, winning three playoff games in the last five seasons. The streak of postseason berths is in danger, though Wellington has won eight consecutive district games and lost only three in the past five seasons, two to Mulvane.
W. Northwest Grizzlies (2-5, 14-1) Northwest's last district loss was in 2006 to Maize, the season after the Grizzlies had their closest look at the state game under coach Weston Schartz in 2005, which ended at 5-5 Garden City in sectionals. Northwest dominates their district, but since the GC game, an AVCTL Division I team has ousted from from the playoffs.
Kapaun Crusaders (1-5, 14-1) Since last being grouped with Carroll in district play in 2005, Kapaun has not lost a district game in the last four seasons. However, Kapaun has not won a single playoff game over the course of the same four seasons in which they reeled off consecutive undefeated district runs.
Andover Trojans (2-3, 10-5) Coach Mike Lee has taken Andover to the playoffs in his first two seasons as coach, winning all six district games following a 2-4 districts record the previous two seasons. Their first season in 5A has been brutalized by injuries to their top running back and wideout, but don't count out the Trojans in districts.
Mulvane Wildcats (2-3, 9-6) Mulvane has won two playoff games in the past five seasons, both coming in 2007 with standout Huldon Tharp playing both ways. After three straight seasons making the playoffs, Mulvane didn't win a district game in 2009.
Goddard Lions (2-3, 8-7) Goddard hasn't gone winless in district play since 2006, when Hutchinson, Dodge City and Garden City spoiled their 5-1 season up to that point. Conversely, Goddard saved an 0-6 season in 2008 by sweeping their district to make the playoffs. Wacky system.
W. Southeast Buffaloes (1-3, 10-5) Since winning their district in 2005 and 2006 during Derby's woes and winning their first playoff game since 1983 in 2007, Southeast has missed the playoffs two straight seasons.
