Kapaun Mt. Carmel Catholic High School has hired Billy Graf as its head girls basketball coach for the 2014-15 school year. Graf, who will also join Kapaun Mt. Carmel’s faculty, will replace Marvin Estes, who announced his retirement from active coaching earlier this year.
Graf comes to the Kapaun Mt. Carmel girls basketball program with eight years experience as a coach at the high school and college levels, most recently as an assistant for the Kapaun Mt. Carmel boys program.
Graf takes over a healthy KMC girls program that finished third in this year’s Kansas State High School Activities Association’s Class 5A State Championship Tournament and was the Class 5A state champion team in 2012.
“I am extremely proud to be a part of this program. I have known about, and respected, the Kapaun Mt. Carmel girls program for over 20 years and am excited to be a part of a special tradition here. I promise to all returning and new players that I will work as hard as I can to help us as a team achieve as much as we can,” Graf said.
John Heise, KMC Athletic Director, said, “We are pleased to welcome back Coach Graf to the Kapaun Mt. Carmel athletic department. We look forward to working with him as he transitions into this leadership position over our girls program that has seen great success over the years.”
Graf earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Wichita State University in 2009 and is currently pursuing graduate studies at WSU.
