A competitive edge matched only by the sharpness of a name... Keiser Witte... it cuts through water like a shark's fin... the reigning 5a state swim champ in the 50 and 200 yard freestyle chases not only more state titles - but records.
"I want to break the state record in the 50 free, which with my current time, I could beat by about half a second. That one is achievable but
the one that's probably out there is to get the state record in the 100 free or 100 fly..."
He's built like an olympian, and he could become one. like the athletes he's met, and trained with, and competed against at meets across the country.
"I've met several former Olympians. My personal favorite is Jason Lezak. He's the one who took the race from France in 2008. But I think its cool to meet the current and former Olympians."
And to think, he was almost not a swimmer at all.
"I wanted to play football. My dad said he wanted me to do something that was unique, so he signed me up for swimming."
Do you think you'd be good at football?
"I've never played football but from what I hear, I'd be good at.
Instead, he's in the pool - more than 15 hours a week. then, its off to the weight room.
"If you want to be really good you're going to have to make the best with what you have and be strong."
Witte makes his official visit to Missouri. He'll compete for team USA at Junior Nationals in March.
