WICHITA, Kan.-- Mazie South finished 2013 with an 8-2 record and a loss in the first round of the playoffs. The success they found was largely due to their signature defensive mind set. This year, they look to find success in the same place.
Head Coach Brent Pfeifer says he wonders if this year's squad will be able to fill the shoe's of the 2013 Mavericks defense. He said, "I hope we can be as good. Every year we kind of look back and go, 'Oh my gosh, are we going to be as good on defense or not? And I hope we are.' It's kind of up to the boys. I think we have enough talent there to be as good as we have been."
But running back converted to defensive end, Remington Smith isn't too worried. He said, "It will be a challenge but we've got lots of hype and we're ready for anybody to come at us." Maize South opens up the season at Goddard on September 5th.
