A Garden Plain High School teacher and football coach is among seven people arrested in a computer sex sting, Wichita Police announced today.

Police said the seven made arrangements to meet someone they met online to have sex. The men were arrested at what they thought would be the meeting place. Police said the men thought the people they were going to meet were under the age of 18.

"These are good solid cases and there's seven individuals that were in custody this weekend that wanted to eventually have sex with an underage girl," said Capt. Brent Allred, Wichita Police.

Sedgwick County jail records show Todd Puetz, 39, was booked for electronic solicitation and aggravated human trafficking, late Saturday evening. He has been released from jail.

Renwick School District Superintendent Tracy Bourne said he learned of the arrest late Saturday night. Bourne said the teacher has been placed on paid administrative leave while the investigation continues.

"It's a disappointing situation for everybody, kids and adults alike. We're just trying to support our kids and support each other and try to get through a difficult situation," said Bourne.

A family member who was the Puetz residence said, "The family is being very supportive. We are waiting for things to come to light."

The men arrested are between the ages of 25 and 59. Police say five of the men are from the Wichita area, one from Hays, and one from Garden Plain.

Jail records show others arrested for electronic solicitation include:

Kyle Miller, 25
Chris Squires, 25
Reginald Shepard, 35
Joshua Hetzel, 26
David Walter, 59
Viraqd Weerapperuma, 51

Police said they have been planning this operation for a month. Sedgwick County Sheriff's investigators and the FBI also took part in the operation.

Investigators are working to put the cases together. They plan to present some of the cases to the District Attorney's Office by the end of the week.
