College-Bound Students Get Help Applying For Aid

Today, 2-4:00 p.m., college-bound high school students and current college students get free help from academic adivsors to file for student aid. Students and parents of prospective college students are encouraged to attend.

College Goal Sunday in Kansas helps students get the money they need to attend college. Students will receive free help from financial aid advisors filling out the required Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), the first step to apply for federal aid. One student at each of the 22 nationwide locations will receive a $500 scholarship to any college or trade school in the country. Scholarship recipients must be a first semester freshman in the fall of 2012.

According to The College Board, the average 2010-2011 tuition increase was 4.5% at private colleges and 7.9 percent at public universities. College Goal Sunday makes applying for financial aid easier.
