Even with an attempt at a comeback in the third quarter, the Wings were not able to overcome the Soul’s Carlos Farias who totaled 13 points in the match to earn Chicago the victory and put them in playoff position.
Chicago shocked Wichita with a huge run at the start of the game. Contributions from Carlos Munoz, Pablo and Bato Radonic would give the Soul a 6-0 lead by the end of the first quarter. The Soul would quickly increase the Wings deficit to 15, courtesy of all the same scorers in the first quarter before Andrew Hoxie could finally put two points on the board for the Wings to end the run, leaving the score 15-2 at the half.
Determined to make a comeback, the Wings saw contributions from three different players, bringing them within three points of the Soul by the fourth quarter. Adrian Gonzalez started the run with a goal, which was followed up by a matching goal from Andre Berenzon to cut the lead in half at 15-6. Michael Mesle and Berenzon would then add two back to back three-point goals to make the score 15-12.
The fourth quarter was eerily similar to the first for Wichita, as they were unable to stop a second run by the Soul, led by Farias who scored back to back goals to pull away early. Hoxie would attempt to get the Wings back in the game with his second goal of the afternoon, but would have little impact as Farias hit another three-point goal to seal a 23-14 win for the Soul.
