Wichita native Nate Robertson was released from the Chicago Cubs triple-A affiliate in Iowa on Thursday, according to the Iowa Cubs web site.
The move was made to make room on the active roster for 27 year-old pitcher Shane Lindsay, a triple-A All-Star last year.
Robertson, 34, signed with the Cubs prior to the season but posted an 0-2 record with an 8.10 ERA in 14 games. In 20 innings, he allowed 30 hits, four walks, and 15 strikeouts.
He returned to Wichita and has been working out with the Wichita Wingnuts team, of which he is a part owner, while he waits for another opportunity in Major League Baseball.
Robertson has pitched over 1,100 innings in nine seasons in the big leagues. He last appeared in an MLB game in 2010.
