Texas took advantage of a five-minute power play and scored the first goal of the game eight minutes in. After Chris Greene was called for charging Brahmas starter Brad Fogal, Erik Spady scored from the right face-off circle and gave Texas a 1-0 lead. With 4:30 remaining in the first, Daniel Tetrault made a nice move around a defender and found Thomas Beauregard (4) in front of the net and he tied the game at one.
T.J. Fox scored his sixth of the playoffs early in the second period and the Brahmas regained the lead, up 2-1.
Wichita had to kill off its second five-minute major in the third as Kevin Seibel went off for kneeing and was able to get through a late five-on-three power play. Russo was lifted for the extra attacker, but Texas held on for its second-straight one-goal win, skating away with a 2-1 victory.
Thomas Beauregard ran his point-scoring streak to seven games with a goal in the first period. Wichita has yet to score the first goal of the game in the playoffs, now nine straight. Texas has now scored the first goal in the last seven meetings between the two teams including the last three meetings in the regular season.
Wichita went 0-for-3 with the man advantage while Texas went 1-for-7.
