The Wichita Thunder announced this morning that forward Erick Lizon has been called up to the Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League and has been signed to a PTO. Lizon is expected to join the Barons today in time for their game against the Texas Stars.
Lizon, 27, is in his seventh pro season and second in Wichita. The Kitchener, Ontario native has racked up 230 penalty minutes in 89 games with the Thunder. Currently, Lizon is second in the CHL in majors with nine. In last year’s Best-of-the-Best Poll, he was named the Best Fighter in the Heavyweight Division.
Lizon is the first player called up from Wichita this season. This will be his second stint in the AHL as he appeared in eight games with the Worcester Sharks during the 2010-11 season collecting 24 penalty minutes in eight games.
