Wichita put up a three-spot in the first 20 minutes for the second-straight game. Lowe scored twice in a 1:04 with his first coming at 10:46. Nathan Lutz drove down the wing, put a bullet pass to Lowe in front of the net and beat Mike Clemente to make it 1-0. His second came at 11:50 off a tip shot from Andrew Martens from the left point. Les Reaney added to the fun, scoring his first goal since New Year's Eve at 15:59 and gave the Thunder a 3-0 after the first period. The goal chased Clemente from the game and brought in rookie goaltender Ryan Daniels. Wichita out-shot the Blaze last night after one 14-4 and almost did the same this afternoon against the Mavericks with a 13-4 edge through one period.
Late in the second period, Kevin Young made quick work on the power play with a heavy shot from the deep slot and upped the lead to 4-0 with just four seconds on the clock.
Wichita got third period goals from Chad Painchaud and Neil Trimm to finish out the scoring for Wichita. Missouri broke up the shutout bid from Jung with 2:30 remaining when John-Scott Dickson tallied his 100th career point off a rebound. 19 seconds later, Kenton Miller scored to make it 5-2 at that point.
Trimm (1g, 2a) and Matt Robinson (0g, 3a) finished with three points while Andrew Martens had two helpers. Robinson's three assists give him 300 points for his career. Jung took the victory for the Thunder, stopping 18 of 20 shots.
Wichita went 2-for-4 on the power play while Missouri was 0-for-2.
