Texas QB Controversy Stirs in Camp

Call it a quarterback controversy or a competition. Either way, the Texas Longhorns remain unsettled at the position heading into the 2012 season.

The Longhorns reported to training camp Sunday with David Ash and Case McCoy preparing to battle for control of the offense after a rocky 2011 in which both started several games in an 8-5 season.

Ash started Texas' Holiday Bowl win over California, but coach Mack Brown insists he's not ready to declare Ash the starter for the season opener against Wyoming on Sept. 1.

Ash and McCoy met with reporters on Sunday. McCoy noted he's bigger and stronger and says he used not playing in the bowl game as motivation for his offseason workouts.

Ash said he's been studying how to be a better leader.
