Scott City Wins 3A State Championship

Brett O'Neil threw a 23-yard touchdown pass to his younger brother, Trey, and ran for another TD to lead Scott City past Silver Lake 28-21 in Kansas' Class 3A state championship game Saturday.

The Eagles (13-1) got off to an early 21-0 lead after a 9-yard touchdown run from Peter Pfannenstiel, a 3-yard TD run from Dailin Kruger and a 1-yard TD run from Blake Baird.

Scott City, coached by Glenn O'Neil, responded with 28 unanswered points.

After O'Neil's son, Brett, threw a touchdown pass to Trey O'Neil, he ran for an 11-yard touchdown. Brenner Wells then ran 6 yards for a touchdown. Brett O'Neil also threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Drew Kite and kicked all the extra points.

Pfannenstiel led Silver Lake in rushing with 81 of his team's 114 yards. Scott City (14-0) rushed for 94 yards.
