Salina Chooses Bombers For Indoor Football Team Name

Voters have chosen the Bombers to be the name of Salina's new indoor football team.

Team owner Chris Vercher made the announcement on Thursday morning at the Bicentennial Center, where the team will play its home games in the inaugural season of the Champions Professional Indoor Football League.

Bombers was chosen by fans over Storm and Shock in a vote on the Bicentennial Center web site.

Vercher also announced the selection of Bob Frey as the team's head coach. Frey is currently the defensive coordinator for Kansas Wesleyan University, and will maintain both positions. Frey has previous indoor coaching experience, leading the Kalamazoo Xplosion to the championship game in the Continental Indoor Football League.
