The Central Hockey League announced today that Thunder forward Matt Robinson has been selected as the Oakley CHL Player of the Week for the period ending on January 27th. This is the third player of the week award that a Thunder player has earned and Robinson’s second of his career.
Robinson began the weekend by scoring the game’s first goal on Saturday night as the Thunder blitzed Denver 7-0. He followed up that performance with a five-point outing on Sunday in the Thunder’s 7-1 victory and recorded the third hat trick of his career. Robinson tallied both game-winning-goals over the weekend for Wichita. The South Surrey, BC native returned to the Air Capital on January 11th after leading the Thunder in goals a year ago with 34, 10 of which were game-winners. Robinson last earned player of the week honors for the period ending on February 19th, 2012. He also was a finalist a year ago for MVP.
