Jared McDonald, Mitch Einertson, and Steve Carrillo powered the offense, each collecting three hits and combining for nine runs scored and six RBI.

Wichita scored three times in the bottom of the first and led through the end of the game. McDonald tripled to right-center with one out and scored on Einertson's sacrifice fly to center. C.J. Ziegler and Carrillo followed with consecutive singles. David Peralta then hit a deep flyball to left field that bounced off the glove of Ben Wagner. Ziegler and Carrillo scored on the error.

In the second, Ryan Khoury led off with a walk, advanced to second on a passed ball, and came home on a Jake Kahaulelio grounder to shortstop that resulted in an error.

After Newman scored its lone run in the top of the fourth, the Wingnuts broke the game open with a four-run bottom of the fifth. Singles from McDonald and Einertson helped load the bases with no outs. Carrillo cleared them with a three-run double to right-center to make it 7-1. Carrillo took third base when Tanner Vinson's throw from center came through to the plate, and scored on a Peralta groundball to second.

Derek Blacksher started for Wingnuts and tossed three scoreless innings. Blacksher allowed one hit, walked one, and struck out two.

Jose Perez followed Blacksher with three strong innings for the win. Perez allowed one earned run, walked two, and struck out five.

Khoury singled to center to start the bottom of the sixth and was driven in by McDonald's second triple of the night. Einertson ushered in McDonald with a double down the left field line that made it 10-1. Carrillo doubled into the left field corner two batters later to score Einertson.

Wichita pushed across two more in the bottom of the eighth. With second and third and nobody out, Taylor Freeman ripped a single through the right side to score McDonald. Later in the inning, Peralta tacked on the Wingnuts' 13th run of the night with a sacrifice fly.

Jared Simon, Derrick Miramontes, and Matt Nevarez combined for three innings of scoreless relief. The trio allowed one hit and struck out four.

Ashton Hoffman took the loss for the Jets, allowing three runs, two earned, in one inning.

The Wingnuts continue their spring schedule Wednesday morning when they host Friends University at 11:05 a.m. Tickets are just $7.00 General Admission and can be purchased at the gate.
