It was the first-career honor for Meyer, while Matthys was honored for a second time this season. The accolades mark the fourth and fifth for the Wildcats this year as Tanner Witt and Jon Davis earned player-of-the-week recognition on March 25 and April 8, respectively.

Meyer went 6-for-12 with a double and four RBI last week against No. 19 Oklahoma, including Friday night when he capped a three-run sixth inning with a two-RBI single to get the Wildcats to within a run at 4-3. K-State went on to win the game and clinch the regular-season title. After doubling and scoring in the sixth inning Saturday, Meyer came through in a similar situation in the seventh inning when he drove in a pair of runs on a single to put K-State up, 5-0, en route to the series-clinching victory. Meyer also added three more hits on Sunday.

A product of Stilwell, Kan., Meyer ranks seventh in the Big 12 with 17 RBI against league competition, and he has been on a tear over his last nine games as he is hitting .429 (15-for-35) with a double, two triples, two home runs, 13 RBI and seven runs scored.

Matthys garnered a win and a save last weekend against the Sooners. The right-hander, who has now seen time in 28 games this year, broke the K-State freshman record for wins in K-State’s league-clinching victory Friday by improving to 8-0. His win total is also tied for ninth in a single-season in school history and is the most by a Wildcat relief pitcher in the Big 12 era. On Saturday, Matthys tied the Kansas State freshman record for saves by earning his sixth of the year.

Matthys, a native of Spring Lake Park, Minn., is tied for first in the Big 12 in both overall and conference-only victories (5). He leads the league with 16 appearances in Big 12 play, while his five saves against league foes rank fifth. He also ranks second and seventh, respectively, in the Big 12 in those overall categories.
