Legendary HS Football Coach Barta To Retire

Legendary Smith Center High School football coach Roger Barta will step down.

Hayspost.com reports Barta informed his team at their season-ending meeting.

Barta guided the Redmen to eleven appearances in state championship games. The Redmen also won a state record 79 games in a row.

The streak prompted Barta and the Redmen to be featured in the book "Our Boys".
