Andale's girls are looking for their first state title in ten years.
"You have no idea how much we want this this year."
But its not the years that weigh heavy on point guard Emily Rowland... it's the months. Six of the most challenging in her life. The price paid to outrun an injury.
"ACL, MCL, Mensicus - it felt like this whole leg and this just detached... twisted and came back. that's what I thought"
The seasons passed with Emily on the sidelines - first basketball - then pole vaulting for track and field. - always staying positive for her teammates - though needing their help at times for the daily battle.
"Every day i was scared. I would cry. I'd be like what if I'm not the same. what if i dont have the speed. what if i cant steal as many balls as i did last year? what if i tear it again or tear the other one?"
With so many questions - answers start to surface. she's averaging five steals and five assists per game...
"She plays with her heart on her sleeve. you see her emotion. She's got a motor and she doesnt let anyone sit around and be lazy."
All in hopes it comes down to a shot at state.
"We're ready. I'm ready (laughter)
